Alex Crawford- Special Sky News Correspondent visits Coventry

Four times winner of the Royal TV Society Journalist of the Year award, Alex Crawford visited Coventry in a Special edition of Coventry Conversations to discuss her story in Libya. Formally based in Sky’s Dubai bureau, Alex has reported on the Gulf and the MIddle East, most recently covering the Arab  Spring uprisings in Tunisia, Egypt, Bahrain, and Libya.

Alex’s name became a household one when was the first reporter to broadcast live from Green Square as rebel forces took over Tripoli. Arriving in the capital on the back of a pickup truck with a rebel convoy, Alex’s reports were broadcasted to the world vie manually operated satellite signal and a camera plugged into a cigarette lighter charger.

Fascinating talk with Coventry Telegraph Editor

A year on and Darren Parkin will be back for a Coventry Conversation to take place tomorrow at 1pm at the Herbert, Jordan Well, Coventry.

Being the youngest ever editor of the Telegraph, Darren has spent the last 12 months developing new technologies to re-connect with his readers.

“I am sure he has a lot of data to share with us and anyone with a passion for local news should find this talk fascinating” says John Mair, Senior Lecturer and founder of the Coventry Conversations.

TV news icon, Jon Snow, returns for a Coventry Conversation

One of the most recognized and trusted faces in British television and an Honorary Professor of Journalism will return to Coventry on Tuesday 1 February to take part in the popular Coventry Conversations series.

Jon Snow will talk about the evolvement of working journalists’ lives with the use of social media and as a result of that how news reporting and gathering has changed. His talk, entitled: ‘From Newsfilm to Twitter- one reporter’s journey to TV’s new world’ is sure to attract many students interested in the sphere of journalism.

The class will take place on Tuesday 1 February at 9am in Ellen Terry Building, Room ETG34. Entry is free and open to all.
