JOHN KETTLEY graduated from the Lanchester Polytechnic (what is now Coventry University) in 1970 with a BSc in Applied Physics; he then joined the Met Office which where he started a career as a Weatherman for Central TV as well as local and national BBC news until her retired in 2000. Now he’s returning to Coventry as a former student to speak at Coventry Conversations as part of a packed graduation week schedule.
Kettley has entered the very small group of weathermen who have gained cult status after becoming the subject of the Tribe of Toffs 1988 hit single, ‘John Kettley is a weatherman’
In 2000 John left the Met Office to set up his own commercial weather company ‘John Kettley Enterprises’. He acts as a personal consultant Football Association, Rugby Football Union, racecourses and sports stadiums. Kettley has appeared on talkSPORT and Radio 5 Live in recent years and acts as resident weatherman for Wimbledon radio each year.
Kettley’s talk will be the last of a bumper four days of Coventry Conversations which features past and present Coventry University graduates to mark the week long 2009 graduation ceremony.
