There are also some colossal names from the worlds of media and sport which are yet to be confirmed, Jeremy Paxman and Nick Davies are expected to take part in a global video conference and Rio Ferdinand is still to be scheduled for late in the year.
The series of lunch time talks is now in its 5th season and its success as the Universities best known brand is clear, the modest venues have seen attendance reach 200, videos on youtube have racked up 7000 hits and the Coventry University ITunesU site has seen this summers series reach 2000 downloads a day. The series has generated in excess of half a million pounds of free advertising for the University each year since its conception in 2005.
John Mair the creator of Coventry Conversations believes there are several factors which have contributed to it’s success:
“The success is down to the quality of the Conversatonalists. Some of them now ring me up asking to appear. The Coventry Conversaitons are now the best known brand in the university”
He added: “They help our students meet the great and good in the media learn from them and develop their career aspirations. They’ve led to work experience, jobs and much more. The University is very proud of them. I am gobsmacked at how they have taken off. Long may they continue…”
