MARIO GOJIMAN, former president of the Argentinean Volleyball Association and a keenly anticipated speaker at the Play the Game conference has been denied access to leave Argentina due to unpaid debts that he accumulated due to personal pledges he made when the country hosted the volleyball world cup in 2002.Goijman expected the FIVB, the world volleyball’s governing body, to cover the expenses linked to the 2002 world cup. However they did not and this left him in serious debt.

He was due to speak about ‘International sport under Swiss legal protection’ on Wednesday.

Play the Game creator Jens Sejer Andersen said he was “deeply saddened” and “concerned” by the situation.
