ON THE 4th of June Coventry University will host its very first graduate fashion show and the final year design students are on a charge making preparations for the end of year show, which will be held in the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum.
There are two shows on the Thursday, a 2pm School and Colleges show, which is also open to the public, and an Evening show at 8pm for family, friends and VIP guests.
Principal Lecturer in fashion design, Ann Muirhead, said: “This is our debut show and we have high expectations. There is a definite buzz about the place and I’m optimistic that all the ambitious plans will be realised. On the catwalk will be individual collections from this years’ graduates, alongside group collections by 1st, 2nd and 3rd year students”
With some big names in the Fashion industry expected to attend and the promise of extensive coverage in the local, national and specialist media the show looks to one of the more lavish end of year exhibits.
Ann Muirhead added: “It is going to be a stunning show. The concepts are amazing and there are some really cutting-edge collections which will take your breath away!”
This show may be the first showing of the final year work however some of the students have already received awards for their collections. First and second year students are also getting in on the act having some of their work on display.
Students will be able to catch a glimpse of former student Kevin Geddes’ award winning designs. He now has his own line of clothing on sale alongside the industry’s biggest names such as Paul Smith and D&G.
