NIB: Student inspired by the recession

FINE ART student, Adam Watts, has been inspired by the recent widespread closure of shops during a recent trip home to Banbury, Oxfordshire that he decided to base his final year project on it.  Adam, 23, said: “I use my camera as a tool to search for evidence of human contact. When I was looking around the buildings, I found objects that were left behind by the people who used to occupy the space. This then made me think of the bigger picture; the lives of the people that were affected by the closures and what an impact it has had on them.  My photographs portray the political issue of the recession. The stillness of the image represents the solemn atmosphere of our cities and towns and for my final year project it is not only poignant but topical.”
