NIB: Drowning girl inspires original performance piece

A MUSICAL performance inspired by the pop-art painting, The Drowning Girl by Roy Lichtenstein, is to be performed by the Twisted Ribbon Company in May.  The new and exciting work uses dance and music and is to be performed on the 14th May at 6.30pm in the Ellen Terry Building at Coventry University as part of the Performing Arts annual degree show.  The music and choreography are both original and performed by six dancers and six musicians.  James Stant, 21, who is responsible for the music, and currently in his final year of a Music Composition and Professional Practice, said: “Our piece looks behind the story of the Drowning Girl and her determination not to call out for help while in obvious distress. It conjures up so many images and associated movements which the music complements perfectly.”
