THE WORK of senior journalism lecturer, Dr. John Lister, has been acknowledged with his recent book entitled, ‘The NHS after 60: for patients or profits’?, winning the Medical Journalists Association Tony Thistlethwaite Award for 2009.  The book was considered the best by an MJA member on a health or medical science topic for a general readership.  The book’s publishers, Middlesex University Press, collected the award on Dr. Lister’s behalf when the award ceremony took place in London earlier in the week.  He was in the USA at the time at a conference for health journalists.  Dr. Lister said: I’d like to thank my colleagues who have supported me in this venture, and especially Dr. Fredrick Mudhai for reminding me about professional organisations for health journalists.”
