Cov Cons 2009: Exclusive preview

SOME OF the most influential movers and shakers in the media world will again be gracing the media lecture series, Coventry Conversations for 2009.

John MairAlready confirmed for the winter series is award-winning Channel 4 news presenter, Jon Snow.  Former no-compromise investigative journalist, Roger Cook will also be attending as will Martin ‘Money Saving Expert’ Lewis.

Throughout 2008, Coventry Conversations made the headlines of both the national and local press, including the Press Gazette, the Radio Magazine, Broadcastnow, The Coventry Telegraph, and BBC Coventry and Warwickshire.

Shock jock, Jon Gaunt spoke publicly about his sacking from TalkSport and a week later Camelot’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Richard Peel, condemned the BBC for its lacklustre addressing of the Ross and Brand affair.

Coventry Conversations has also become a valuable lecture in every CSAD student’s diary, with work placements, contacts and careers advice from those in the know the reward for their presence.

The organiser and brainchild of the lecture series, John Mair (pictured) is pleased with how it has developed since it first commenced in September, 2006.  “I am delighted Coventry Conversations has put Coventry Media on the map,” he said.

“Week after week after week the movers and shakers continue to come to Coventry to converse.  It is an asset that the University can and does cherish.  It is worth its weight in gold.”

Film-maker and Oscar/Emmy/BAFTA winner, Jon Blair commences the series with a talk ‘On Documentary’ scheduled for Thursday, January 8th in the Ellen Terry building at 13.00pm.
